When our client first approached Spires Interiors, they had a clear vision: a kitchen that combined the warmth of real wood with the strength of contemporary design. After exploring multiple showrooms, they discovered Callerton’s stained ash veneer doors through our team and instantly fell in love with the craftsmanship and finish.
The Design Brief
The client wanted a kitchen that felt minimal yet commanding within their open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area. Their wish list included:
Dark-stained ash veneer doors paired with a concrete-effect worktop
Clean, uninterrupted lines with push-to-open doors and drawers
A cohesive, dramatic aesthetic, including a matching splashback
Made-to-measure cabinetry to balance the double-height ceilings
Overcoming Challenges
One of the biggest challenges was working around an exposed steel beam. Instead of concealing it, our design embraced the feature, turning it into a celebrated element that enhanced the industrial character of the space.
The large central island was also engineered with both family life and entertaining in mind. Its bespoke substructure allowed for a generous overhang and a seamless timber underside. The addition of a waterfall end created a striking “wow factor” upon entering the room.
The Result
Delivered within budget, the finished kitchen is a harmonious blend of functionality, proportion, and style. Every detail, from the discreet task lighting above the hob to the precision of the bespoke cabinetry, was tailored to the client’s vision.
